Fixed-Gear Bikes: Not just for racers and old-timers

You can't get much closer to being one with the bike. No brakes, no gears, just your legs pumping the pedals cranking the chain turning the wheel, and vice-versa. Fixed-gear bikes are making a comeback. Long used on indoor tracks, bike couriers and other roadies are finding that old is new, and that fixed-gear is a lot of fun, and a lot of style. Just don't lose control on a steep downhill, or you may find pedal-imprints on your shins, or worse, road-imprints on your face.
