Sony DVDirect - Record your home movies directly to DVD without a computer
Sony has introduced a standalone DVD recorder, the DVDirect VRD-VC10, touted as the worlds first hybrid DVD recorder capable of burning DVDs with or without a computer. You can connect any video source directly to the recorder using standard RCA and/or S-Video cables, which means that not only can you record onto DVD from an older analog camcorder, but you can also transfer to DVD video that you've stored on a personal video recorder such as a Tivo. You can also record from your computer via the suppliied USB 2.0 cable. Sadly, there's no direct digital connection for DV camcorders - that still either requires you to go through a computer first, or use the analog video outputs on your camcorder, which may entail a slight quality loss. Still, this device is very useful to those of us who have old analog video footage that we want to preserve for the future. Available from Buy.com with free shipping. Posted: 4/11/2005 3:40:41 PM |
